It has been 15 years since the initial rise of social media. Despite living in the most “connected” era in the history of humankind, we are lonelier than ever. The loneliness epidemic is a serious and widely discussed problem. And there’s no doubt about the central cause of this phenomenon. The current social media platforms have a plethora of problems that need to be addressed. Bridge is a human connection platform that focuses on fostering genuine connections through real life interactions. Think a small group-focused next generation Meet-Up. We have two goals: 1. Create a platform that matches up like minded individuals who have a high probability of connection into small groups. 2. Help small businesses by recreating local community. The groups mentioned above will be assigned to meet at relevant locations/venues that correspond with their overlapping interests.

CS for Accessibility!

Request to Join

As a student with ADHD and dyslexia, switching to online classes turned out to have additional challenges for me. But, also as a CS student, these challenges quickly became a repository of ideas that manipulates the UIUX of someone's computer to fix their problem. I'm hoping to work with others here to bring some of those mini ideas to life to help people with disabilities, and create a larger community of using CS to increase accessibility of everyday life for neurodivergent people.

College Life Simulator

Request to Join

College students are at home for the indefinite future. Isolated from their fellow students on campus, they miss out on the social interaction, atmosphere, and activities a college campus provides. Many colleges have implemented virtual tours of their campuses allowing students to "walk around" campus from home. This application will be a game where the user completes the college experience vicariously through a created character. The vision for the game is a sandbox environment where the user completes various tasks such as picking a major, studying for classes, and going to parties. Each activity will give the user points to "level up" to the next year of college. College students want the campus experience, and this app will provide it.

The Next Billion Dollar Social Media App

Request to Join

Social Media has a stigma of making people unproductive. What if we can flip that upside down? I'm looking to organize a group of experienced coders and like minded visionaries who are willing to create a new social media platform from the ground up. It will be project based, very similar to Upbound in the sense that people can browse through various projects and connect with like minded students who are looking forward to creating something new. On the other hand, however, students and young adults are not required to join these projects. Some students will be able to simply browse through the various academic or social endeavors that their peers across the world are partaking in. This type of social media and entertainment is a far cry from what our generation is typically used to. This social media will not only be intellectually invigorating for young adults and students, but will also serve to inspire, motivate, and create meaningful connections.

What Can I Do?

Request to Join

In these troubling times, there are always courageous people who stand on the frontlines and help. Whether it be the Amazon forest fires or the Coronavirus, people go out and tackle those issues. But what can we do sitting at home? What if there was a way to connect regular people to ways to help people on the frontline? What Can I Do is an app that allows people to do just that. The goal is to first create a way to match causes you care about and events happening in the news to organizations that are directly working to solve that issue and provide support to them in any way that is possible. For example, if a cause someone cares about is homelessness, they can see ways to donate to that cause, volunteer for that cause and even find resources to create maximum impact by themselves. In addition, there will also be a system to show how much impact the What Can I Do (WCID) community is having on real world issues.

No-Code Test Platform

Request to Join

There are a lot of platforms for building no-code websites, but what about testing them? Let's build a tool that non-technical people can use to automate tests for their no-code sites. Let's let them load a site they own, and capture unique test sequences just by clicking through like a normal user would, and then automate the same exact test on-demand, by using selenium.

SEATeach

Request to Join

I am looking for a team of people who want to give back. In my travels to Southeast Asia, I have come across extremely impoverished 3rd world communities. I can only imagine the impact of free, accessible, and applicable education programs to these community members- education programs that focus on math, science, and engineering as it would apply to helping individuals innovate and develop their communities for the better (read- The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind). I seek a group of people with the same passion- a group of people to develop a useable curriculum, find investors, secure basic technology, and roll out test sites. I seek change from the inside out.
